Cookie

Cookies are small text files that sites visited by the user send to his or her browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera, etc.), where they are stored in order to be retransmitted to the same sites the next time the same user visits.

In the course of browsing on a site, the user may also receive cookies from different sites or web servers on his terminal (so-called “third-party” cookies); this happens because on the website visited there may be elements such as, for example, images, maps, sounds, social buttons (“Like” of Facebook, etc.) specific links to web pages of other domains that reside on servers other than the one on which the requested page is located. In other words, they are those cookies that are set by a website other than the one you are currently visiting.

Technical cookies are defined as those used for the sole purpose of “carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide such service.”

Profiling cookies, on the other hand, are used to create profiles related to the user and are used for the purpose of sending advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user when surfing the Web.
